What is the highest dose of ibuprofen a person can take at one time?
A nurse at the dentist’s office told me to double up the recommended dose of ibuprofen for my jaw pain. Ive taken 6 tablets (which I thought were 100mg but were really 200mg).
So I’ve just taken 1200mg all at once about 15 minutes ago. Is that okay? What is the highest dose someone can take?

Once shouldn’t hurt you, but don’t take anymore for the next 24 hours. The highest recommended dosage is 800mg tablets three times a day. This would be the equivolent of four tablets of the OTC motrin or other ibuprofen brand three times a day.
The LD50 of ibuprofen is 636mg/kg. So you’re not going to DIE.
if you can still read this you should go to the hospital. that ammount of ibuprofen is uncool. take the box with you.
You’d better not make a habit of that.
It really depends on the weight of the person taking the medication. My sons Dr told him to double up as well because of his size. He is 5′10" and 215 pounds.
800 is the recommended max but as long as you don’t take anymore for a day you should be OK.
Much more and you start doing kidney damage and stomach damage.
No that is not ok! The most you should take is 800mg (4 tablets) Call your doctor.
I have heard of 1800 mg. at one time, not the greatest on your liver but it won’t kill you.
