Arthritis Archives

If children cracked their joints, like knuckles, could they get arthritis at their age? I know you can really get it from genetics- but how about randomly? From cracking joints?

The man had a commuted left patella fracture and supposedly he developed patellofemoral arthritis secondary to this injury. The doctor claims that he has chronic pain syndrome from it and prescribed him Percocet and Oxycontin. Is this proper? Aren’t Percocet and Oxycontin too strong for arthritis of the knee? Would not Celebrex suffice?

Hi,
Being new to sever Arthritis and being relatively young, I wonder if I would be better off living where there is very little cold weather as I am having a rough time of it up here in NJ, pain meds and all.

Any idea if it matters for the better that a person in my situation would be better off in a warmer place, or not?

THANKS!

Hi,
I have read at many places that infrared therapy is very effective in giving reliefs from arthritis pains?

Have you heard about it or have first hand knowledge about it?

Do you know about side affects of it, if any?

Do you know someone personally who has used it and have benefited by it?

Thanks,
Ashish

theres that medicine that you can give dogs with arthritis called ‘Happy Hips’. how much should i give my dog a day?

My dog is an extremely picky eater. When she was younger, she would gobble down any needed pills if they were wrapped in a ball of cheese or bread. No more. What ideas do you have to get her to take her arthritis pills? Peanut butter won’t work either….she just licks it. I also tried to shove pills into Libby’s vienna sausage (kind of like a hot dog), but these made her throw up.

A friend is wearing a copper bracelet, which he says helps his arthritis. I think this is fine, but I wonder how much copper his skin is absorbing, and is there a toxic effect in the long term?
It turns his wrist a bit green.

Also, how does this idea work? Is there a chemical reaction in the body? Or, if it’s all in your mind, isn’t it still effective since the pain is gone, for whatever reason?

It seems with the change of weather and some of the cats ages they have developed arthritis. It has been said that aspirin is helpful but what about glucosamine? One of them has been prescribed steroids for a hip displacement and although the steroids seem to help dramatically it may be too invasive for some of the others. Your help would be appreciated.

I do have arthritis but not sure if it is that severe. I feel like I have it but seems these days doctors don’t believe people anymore. And also what about fibromilagia? I am sure I have it but how can I convince my doctor?
I am 37 years old.
