and where can i find the chemical and generic class for other drugs?

If for aspirin it is : generic class: NSAID
chemical class: salicylates

thank u

I have some scarring on my lungs because of inflammation(I’m taking NSAID & singulair).

I went to my doctor for back pain, and headaches, and he gave me Ketoprofen 75mg. I went to fill it and the pharmacist told me it was the same thing as Ibuprofen OTC. I looked it up in my drug book, and found that they are very similar, and both NSAID’s, but not the exact same thing. I know that the Ibuprofen was labeled as "OTC" and Ketoprofen was labeled "also available without a prescription" Is there a difference? Maybe the base product used to make the drug? I dont know. I am a nurse and it benefits me to research drugs as I come across them. Any help would be aprreciated. Thank you!

I have to get up for work in 3.5 hours, and the NSAID isn’t enough. Doc said it’s ok to take with opiates, but which opiate has fewer side effects so I can try to work effectively?

It was 3 days ago so I can’t use ice anymore; the NSAID drugs aren’t working; and the hot towels won’t stay hot for more than 60 seconds…
Does anyone have any advice that worked?

Without getting into too much detail, about 10 months ago, I severely injured my back(thoracic area) . As far as imaging can tell, there is no skeletal damage or nerve issues, it can only be muscles. At best, I’m at a 5 on the pain scale, and I’m normally 6 or 7. This is with both CR and IR oral morphine(30mg BID and 15mg q4-6 PRN, respectively), a NSAID, and gabapentin. I had to stop Flexoril because of blood pressure issues (92 systolic). I spend at least an hour or two daily very nauseous from the pain. PT hasn’t worked yet and I’ve run out of insurance, so the only treatment I can do right now is the TENS unit I have at home.

Here’s my question though: Once a month or so, I have an episode of unprovoked intense pain, the only time I’m willing to say that I hit 10/10 on the pain scale. It can last up to an hour. Nothing I have can do anything. Is it possible to get any kind of injectable analgesic to keep at home for this case? Also, would a physician write for anything like this?
(Ran out of room)- These episodes literally have me curled up screaming and crying(I’m a 23 year old guy, that is not easy to admit), nothing can describe the pain. I know people don’t usually want needles, and I’m no exception, but I’m desperate. Please tell me anything you can think of to help deal with this. At this point, I think an autoinjector or something like that used for insulin or epi would probably work best- does anything like this exist? Do I have any other options I could ask my doctor for or about?

Thank you all so much for any input or ideas you have.
I have been to a pain management doc, they could only recommend their pain program, which I can’t pay for right now.

Also, I was on amitriptyline for 2 months, but it had me sleeping 16-20 hours/day and exhausted the rest of the time and I couldn’t do that anymore. That was when he switched me to the gabapentin.

Tried other FM rx,s; bad side effects;now on Savella and Tylenol for pain..helps only a little. Also prosac for long time..really helps depression. Savella helps fibrofog, but need more pain relief. Dont know if its mainly OA causing pain and Dr. says I,ll need narcotics for arthritis pain(bone spurs etc in neck, thumb also sciatica), but hate to start on them. Dispite Protonics(on acid blockers for years) now have occasional stomach pain.Is high dose of Savella causing more bleeding or irritaion? Should I go back to 100mg?( I think I had more energy then. What might help OA pain without more GI distress and let me see if Savella helps more than just fibrofog. I’m now taking 200mg Savella.,Trazadone(100mg)at night with 1/8mg xanax for sleep,1300mg acetametaphen 3xdaily and prosac 20mgdaily. also glucosamine/chondroitin and vitamins. Still fatigued alot with pain. What narcotic wont irritate stomach or make me feel "zonked" . Dr. said start with Tramadol, butI read that its hard on stomach.
Would appreciate any input.

I CANNOT take any type of NSAID (Advil, Aleve, Tyleol, etc.) due to an ulcer. I just want to get some sleep, can anyone help?

I need to take a pain killer thats is not a NSAID. I have been taking Advil, then Aleve and now Meloxicam. I feel terrible all I can do is sit all day. I rather man up and live with the pain of a tailbone bruise then continue this way.
that cortisone shot idea sounds good I am going to call my doctor thank you for the suggestion

Especially when I take ibuprofen or Aleve, I will get quarter sized bruises all over, with an emphasis on my legs and thighs. I’m taking about 25+ bruises in which there has been no injury. Sometimes I”ll get huge bruises. One time I went to the doctor with a sinus infection that wouldn’t go away. He saw a bruise on my thigh the size of a large cantalope. I woke up one day, and it was there. I never injured it. I’d also get bruises the size of grapefruits on my arms. Anyways he sent me for a blood test for cancer. He actually called me on a Saturday at home to make sure I got the blood work done. The blood work didn’t show anything.

I have a history of miscarriages. My fertility doctor said I had low hormone levels and put me on progesterone. After that no miscarriages. Found out from my OB I had MTHFR. She said it was one type that didn’t cause blood clots/increased risk of strokes, etc, but was associated with miscarriages. She didn’t specify, and I wasn’t knowlegdeable enough to know the kinds of MTHFR there were.

Does anyone out there have MTHFR and bruising?? I’ve been tested for anemia, and I pass. I eat a lot of fruits, veggies, milk and meat.
